The ASOC Chemistry Competition, or Australian Chemistry Assessment, is organized by the Australian Science Innovation Society and is part of the Australian Science Olympiad. Its certificates are recognized by numerous prestigious universities worldwide, and outstanding participants have an advantage when applying to chemistry-related programs at universities in Australia, such as the University of Melbourne and ANU, as well as universities in other countries. The competition emphasizes assessing students' logical thinking and ability to apply chemical reasoning to real-world scenarios, effectively developing students' comprehensive chemical literacy and enjoying considerable recognition and influence in the international chemistry competition arena.
Test structure
The competition is divided into two parts—Section A and Section B. Section A consists of approximately 15 multiple-choice questions, with a total score of 30 points. Section B consists of 3 major questions, each of which is further divided into several sub-questions, each with a different point value. Each major question is worth a total of 30 points. The maximum total score for the competition is 120 points.
