The CCO (Canadian Chemistry Olympiad) is a top-level competition organized by the Chemistry Society of Canada (CIC).
As a selection channel for the Canadian national team of the International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO), its academic authority is recognized globally.
The competition has stringent entry requirements; only students who have won gold, silver, or bronze awards in the CCC competition, or those who have received regional excellence awards, are eligible to participate. The exam is a two-hour written test in English, containing five open-ended short-answer questions covering four major areas: inorganic, organic, analytical, and physical chemistry, with a depth comparable to lower-level university courses. The competition aims to select top chemistry talent, and the awards are core academic credentials for applying to top STEM universities worldwide, also helping students bridge the gap to university-level professional knowledge.
